Revised Tournament of Champions (ToC) -- ToC 10

Hello All -

I've spoken to Bayder, and he indicated that he is going to take a break from A&A for a bit, and asked for me to continue the Tournament of Champions (ToC) tournaments for the foreseeable future. We thank Bayder for his EXCELLENT contribution to the nine ToC tournaments in the past.

Moving ahead, I intend to launch the new ToC 10 in January, and it will be a traditional single-elimination tournament for Revised, with a donated CASH prize of US$100 for 1st place, and US$50 for the runner-up.

Please post here if you are keen to play, or feel free to email me at 5683deltium@gmail.com.

Match Rules:

- The tournament is single-elimination.

- For each match, the choice of Axis-or-Allies will be determined by a bidding process, in which the player who bids the lowest takes Axis. First bidder is determined by random MARTI test die roll.

- Games are to be played by e-mail (unless otherwise agreed), and players should complete at least one nation's turn a day. Each game must be completed within 5 weeks.

- If games go beyond 5 weeks, we may need to Arbitrate a winner to determine who advances...we will try to not use this method. We understand people will be unavailable at times for vacations, etc.

- Default rules are PBEM, Lowluck, No tech, TTL. Please note that standard Revised will be used (not LHTR). Other default settings (if players cannot agree) include Projection of Power (9 VCs), RL for bombing runs, Always on AA. Optionally, people can play online, regular dice, tech, etc. Both just have to agree on it.

- Clarifying Fighters entering combat legally: As long as the AC has a >0% chance of reaching a land-able sea zone (based on LL calc if using LL rules), then a fighter can make the move. No kamikaze figs allowed.

- Players should make their best efforts to ensure that all non-combat moves, etc. are made before the game file is sent, but if one forgets, a player can email their opponent BEFORE their opponent moves with such oversights, and those changes will be accepted. However, for clarity, only non-combat moves (e.g moving AA guns, moving units after combat) will be allowed. No additional combat moves can be made however.

- If ANY edits are made, players should advise their opponent accordingly, even though any and all edits already show up in the history section of the game file.

- To avoid any issues, please clarify OOL for any territories with bombers, multi-national forces, or sea units with subs, etc. When in doubt, communicate ahead of time !!

As a reminder, 1st place shall receive $100, and the runner-up shall receive $50. There is NO entry fee, as these are donated prizes.

Cheers, Deltium

Deltium (Axis, bid = 9 IPCs) defeats BruceCummings (Allies) in a fast and furious game over the last few days. Kudos to BruceCummings for swift and professional play. Bruce is the #2 ranked player in the 2nd edition on the AAMC website, so he's definitely a competitor. Thank you Bruce for a good game, and I hope that we can play again.

Cheers, Deltium

Gonz (Allies) defeats Tulkas (Axis, bid = 9 IPCs) in a fast played game with several moves per day – Thanks Tulkas – always nice to have quick replies! The Germans had bad luck in round 1, 6 and 7 !! Based on that fact it became impossible to defend Germany and the game ended after UK 7.

Thank you Tulkas for a good game, and I know that we will play again:)

Best Gonz

Aw man missed this! Good revision to rules with requiring completion of game within 5 weeks rather than one move per day. I cannot play every day but can play many turns per day when I can play, and like to play live. Guess I will get in the next one of these

stallone vs cgkdesign. cgk wins with axis bid 9.
In a game that saw the follys of war sway back and forth (dices), the allies opted for a strong naval game which they put to quick effect taking ownership of the med before yamamoto could respond. However the wehrmacht had already overrun the dark continent, and combined the axis held AE for long enough to keep the germans collecting good income while japan built up her ground forces.
axis eventually had to cede AE, but protected the suez well enough to prevent usa destroying all axis in the indian ocean. the axis suffered great losses due to bombarbments but in the end the yellow ground game overcame stalins defenses with enough left over to assist with the defense of europe.
allies capitulated r20uk.
thanks to Mirko for a great game with a great pace. we blew through 20 rds in no time.

in a fast paced duel that went 15 rounds in the blink of an eye it was a classic game of allies pressing berlin vs japan pressing stalin. down to luck really japan pressed home.
thank you Lee for a fast great game

Blasherke (allies) wins Vs Erik26 after 18 rounds. Axis bid was 8.

During a traditional opening round the Allies immediately showcased their KGF - tactics. The Axis reacted with a slow but solid advance to Moscow, in a successfull attempt to take-and-hold some key areas. Though at a high cost and sometimes due to lucky dice, the Russians managed to hold of the Axis long enough to allow for the taking of Berlin. Moscow fell probably one round too late...
Thanks to Erik for a very fine game!

B.

Wasp vs. Msoot

Coordinated allied responses to axis movements made taking moscow all but impossible. A huge american fleet roaming the med forced axis high command to abandon egypt earlier than plans had called for. In the end...it was a dastardly under the radar attack on the west coast by the japanese that forced the allies into an uneasy peace. The war ends with axis in contol of 9 VC's

Congratulations to the 8 quarter-finalists after the completion of Round 1. cgkdesign is already into the semi-finals, waiting for the winner of the Epi / Blash match-up, which should be a good one!

As always, the updated bracket can be found here: http://challonge.com/ToC10

Please aim to finish your games by March 6th, which is approximately 5 weeks from now. If any games are close by then, I will likely consider a brief one-time extension, but please do aim to play live whenever possible to keep the game moving along.

Remember -- first prize = $100, and second prize = $50, but of course, we play for honor and love of the game !!

Cheers, Deltium

hello gentlemen,

epinikions axis won against blasherkes allies in 15 rounds. Blasherkes allies managed to stack in west europe later in south europe and also free all of africa. But germany was still with 60 units in berlin and traded around till the japs army took moscow. Thanks blasherke for a skilled and fun game with wonderful game speed. Until next!
