So for those of you who have not seen the aa gun is now firing distinctly at fighters and bombers in low luck games. So if you send in 1 fighter and 1 bomber you have a potential chance to lose both planes by the aa rolling 1 twice in low luck games. The thought behind this is that the aa gun is firing at distinct units which the rule book says to roll out aa shots against bombers and fighters separately. But low luck is not really described in the rule book and I feel this new method is a misinterpretation. In the rule book the game calls for you to roll out units with the same attack value together. Saying this wouldn't you roll out all battles according to unit type if this new method of aa gun firing is to be used.

For Example: 2 infantry, 3 tanks, and a bomber is rolled out currently at 2 hits and a roll for a possible third hit with a 1. But if this aa gun method remains aren't we using two contradictory methods of rolling low luck. If we keep the aa guns this way shouldn't 3 dice be rolled in the previous battle 1 at 2 for infantry, 1 at 3 plus an automatic hit for tanks, and one at 4 for the bomber. Same thing with bombards, we combine cruiser and battleship shots together but they roll on different numbers. If this new method is used shouldn't they roll separately as well?

I think the best solution to this problem is that the aa gun fires the old way where 6 planes would cause one automatic hit despite whether they are bombers or fighters and we make that hit be random instead of being allowed to pick which plane type is hit. Please comment on your thoughts.

The way we're supposed to interpret lowluck is something that happens only during dice rolls and is independent of the rules (this was hammered into me during the carrier/ftr discussion.) The game rules/errata state pretty clearly that you roll dice for bombers and roll dice for fighters seperately, that is, you "roll one dice for each plane", ie. one at a time so that the attacker doesnt get to pick their losses.

Obviously someone mistook this to mean we should roll one lowluck dice for fighters, and one lowluck dice for bombers. As you said, this is not the right system, since we just as well add up inf+art+tanks. I agree that it should go back to one roll for all, and it should be a random casualty, not attacker choosing. Random is the best way to keep 1 dice roll for all planes but have the chance of losing a bomber still. We should probably request that game option.

EDIT I have brought this up in the discussion veqryn and comradekev had on the bug tracker. From what I understand it is something in the XML file and not the game engine, so we need to talk to our map maintainer veqryn. https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func= ... _id=44492&atid=439737
