January '12 Maintenance

There will be some maintenance scheduled throughout January. If the site is closed, I'll try to say when it will be on-line on a maintenance page. Any web developers, please contact me if you'd like to support TripleA!

I will keep the lobby up as much as possible. And sorry I can't be more specific about times right now, but I've got to move the site, upgrade the server, upgrade the CMS and upgrade our custom ladder module if necessary to work with the latest CMS version.

New TeamSpeak server

We are pleased to bring you a new TeamSpeak3 server for TripleA! Our server IP is at 173.255.229.134, and the port is the default 9987.

To download TeamSpeak3, visit http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads ... Enter the IP and your username and click connect! Be sure to add us to your bookmarks.

AA50 Ladder Update

Congrats to Bas for winning the Tournament of Champions 4! Thanks to everyone who played for another successful tournament! Thanks also to the admin panel for volunteering. I hope everyone had fun! See you all next year for what I'm guessing will be an AA50 tournament... :)

New AA50 Ladder / Updated Website

I am pleased to announce the launch of the new AA50 ladder and our updated tripleawarclub.org! I would like to thank Yamamot0, Justin and zhukov4 for their help in the ladder rules, ranking system, and bids. I would also like to thank everyone that spoke up in the forums with their thoughts for the new ladder.

AA50 Ladder

Basics:
The new AA50 ladder allows both 1941 and 1942 scenarios. It uses the included ruleset in the box. Tech is OFF by default for all ladder matches. Players play two games per match, one as each side. And as before, players have the choice for regular luck (dice) or low luck (LL).

National Objectives:
Currently, we have decided to require that National Objectives be enabled. This is for two reasons, firstly, most of our analysis on good Bid numbers has been with NOs on. Secondly, the map is larger then revised and requires a bit more money to make things interesting.

We are open to enabling NOs to be optional (as per the rules) however it will only happen after some rigorous play testing without NOs. If you're interested in this, please go ahead and get started.

Bids:
The bids that have been discussed by our community are as follows;
- For 1941 with regular luck (Dice), the Allies bid is set to 8 IPCs.
- For 1941 with LowLuck (LL), the Allies bid is set to 11 IPCs
- For 1942 with regular luck (Dice), the Allies bid is set to 9 IPCs.
- For 1942 with LowLuck (LL), the Allies bid is set to 9 IPCs

Another thing to mention about the new ladder compared to revised is that ground units can be placed in territories that are empty (but are controlled by that same country).

Any thoughts or comments that you would like to make can be done in the forums. Many of our more experienced players have been playing AA50 for 6months to 1year and feel that these are good base numbers for us to begin our ladder. As games are played over time, further analysis will be made.

I have been itching to make a fresher look to the war club. I still have some things in mind, but this is a good start to giving the site a newer look compared to the 5 year old look it had before.

Strategy Article Test

U.S. President Barack Obama says he wants to meet with Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, before any decision is made regarding his fate after the general openly criticized the U.S. administration in a magazine article.

"I think it's clear that the article in which [McChrystal] and his team appeared â¦ showed poor judgment," Obama said on Tuesday at the close of a cabinet meeting in Washington, D.C.

"But I also want to make sure that I talk to him directly before I make any final decisions."

The face to face meeting with McChrystal is set for Wednesday.

An article in this week's issue of Rolling Stone, headlined "The Runaway General," depicts McChrystal as a lone wolf, on the outs with many important figures in the Obama administration and unable to convince even some of his own soldiers that his strategy can win the war.

He apologized Tuesday for an interview in which he said, among other things, that he felt betrayed by the man the White House chose to be his diplomatic partner, the U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, Karl Eikenberry.
